Gordon Ramsay is as renowned for his exquisite cooking as he is for his explosive tirades and over-the-top insults on shows like Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. But despite his hardened personality when it comes to directing restaurant kitchens, the 51-year-old had let his body go soft—before deciding to make a huge lifestyle change and train for an Ironman with triathlete and trainer Will Usher.

“I started focusing on getting super-fit five or six years ago when my life got super-busy," Ramsay told The Daily Mail. "You get consumed by the work. You get sucked up...All of a sudden your ‘me time’ is zero. There was no breathing space, no down time, no time to even think straight. It all started hitting me hard. I didn’t panic, but my head was not in the game."

He revealed that one of the catalysts in his decision to get fit was his wife, Tana, who has always been fit.

Here’s some good low-carb related news. The Swedish Dietary Science Foundation aims to do high-quality research on how to treat health problems using positive dietary changes. They’re very positive to the potential of low-carb diets and they’ve now completed funding for two studies involving low carb. The first study will investigate the potential of a low-carb diet to improve IBS, and has already started. Protein-powered sweet potato with Greek yogurt

Protein Powered Sweet Potato with Greek Yogurt

Bake several sweet potatoes and store in the refrigerator for a quick and easy meal. In this recipe, the vitamin A-packed tuber is piled high with Greek yogurt and a whopping 32g of protein.

Although the sugar is 24g, remember there is natural sugar found in the sweet potato and Greek yogurt. You can always scale down or cut out the brown sugar if you’re looking to cut back.

Nutrition (per baked potato)

Calories: 455; total fat: 15g; saturated fat: 1g; protein: 32g; carbohydrates: 52g; sugar: 24g; fiber: 7g; cholesterol: 11mg; sodium: 145mg

All it took was one major study that showed that gluten intolerance was, in fact, a real issue for the entire world (it seems like it, doesn't it?) to go on a gluten-free diet.

Peter Gibson, a professor of gastroenterology at Monash University and director of the GI unit at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, conducted that study in 2011, and has since revisited his findings with a more aggressive and controlled approach. The second time around, Gibson found the opposite of his initial study: Subjects reported gastrointestinal distress without any clear physical cause. These findings show that gluten was not the root of the problem, but that gluten intolerance or gluten sensitivity might actually be psychological.
