Cooking keto with Dr. Jeffry Gerber

26 viewsDenver’s Diet Doctor, Dr. Jeffry Gerber, confided to me that one of his favorite dishes is Vietnamese Pho, but he can’t enjoy it as a low-carb option because it is served with rice noodles. After a little testing, I decided to create his favorite dish using very thinly sliced cabbage. Although he was hesitant at first, his reaction to the finished dish made me smile. Later he told me, “If I closed my eyes, I wouldn’t know this wasn’t rice noodles!” Watch a part of the video above (transcript). Is it possible to lose weight without starvation? FREE Download: Ketogenic Diet Book » KetoVIP.

Over 620,000 people have signed up for our free two-week keto low-carb challenge. You’ll get free guidance, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists and troubleshooting tips – everything you need to succeed on a keto diet. Here are new fantastic stories from people who’ve taken the challenge: Feedback Hi Diet Doctor, We have joined the keto challenge because we have started to very slowly gain weight again. We know that we need to be more focused, and the challenge seems like a good way to regain control over eating. Eating after dinner i.e. after 7 pm, has become a problem and I am sure it is not hunger but can’t get control of it in this last six months. We have been living low carb for almost three years combined with a 5:2 lifestyle. Dan is 82 and I am 78. Dan, with the approval of our doctor, came off all medication two years ago and I, fortunately, was never on any. I have found your website such a good support. I love the information, both medical and food, it is...

Why a tax on red meat is a bad idea

Is it possible to lose weight without starvation? FREE Download: Ketogenic Diet Book » KetoVIP.

Last week, we saw headlines suggesting that a global meat tax could save hundreds of thousands of lives and billions of health-care dollars annually. CNBC: Health experts propose a red meat tax to recoup $172 billion in health care-costs Daily Mail: First sugar, now red meat? Taxing beef, lamb and pork “could prevent about 220,000 deaths and save more than £30.7 billion in healthcare costs around the world each year” BBC: Should there be a tax on red meat? The headlines all stem, not from global policymakers’ serious consideration of such a tax, but rather, from a single modeling study out of the University of Oxford, published last week in PLOS. A modeling study is more “academic exercise” than rigorous science. Of course, the whole notion that red meat contributes to increased rates of chronic disease is based on weak epidemiological evidence, a type of evidence that needs to be tested in randomized clinical trials to establish causation. These trials have never...

“Lies my doctor told me” – Dr. Ken Berry

Is it possible to lose weight without starvation? FREE Download: Ketogenic Diet Book » KetoVIP.

2,439 viewsDoes your doctor have an obligation to always stay updated on how to give the best form of care? When Dr. Ken Berry held a presentation at this year’s Low Carb Cruise, he said that licensed doctors, nutritionist and dietitians are lying to their patients if they give them out-dated advice that doesn’t work. Ken calls it lying simply because it’s their job to know better. In this presentation, he declares what these lies could be, what we can do to change the current state and much more. Ken is the author of the book Lies my doctor told me, which this presenatiaiton is mostly based on. He also has a very popular YouTube channel, where he challenges conventional ideas and medical topics your doctor rather wouldn’t discuss. Watch a part of the presentation above (transcript). Management of blood cholesterol just got personal

Is it possible to lose weight without starvation? FREE Download: Ketogenic Diet Book » KetoVIP.

Don’t look now, but the updated clinical practice cholesterol guidelines from the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and others are getting personal. Although the guidelines still contain their familiar approach — that I consider too aggressive with drug therapy — the latest 2018 version of the guidelines now includes an impressive update to emphasize lifestyle intervention, plus a more individualized approach for risk assessment. MedPage Today: AHA: Revised Lipid Guide Boosts PCSK9s, Coronary Calcium Scans Could this be the start of a progressive trend away from shotgun statin prescriptions? I sure hope so. Prior guidelines emphasized the 10-year ASCVD risk calculator as the main determining factor for statin therapy. In the 2018 update, the guidelines acknowledge that the calculator frequently overestimates the risk in those individuals who are more involved with prevention and screening. (In other words, those patients more interested in...
