Is a calorie from chocolate cake really the same as a calorie from salmon? It’s a lie we’ve been fed for decades, which has greatly benefited the processed-food industry at the expense of people’s health. Here’s a great video with Professor Robert Lustig, explaining what’s wrong with nutritional science: Food Navigator: Dr Robert Lustig: ‘Processed food is an experiment that failed. The food industry is getting rich, and it’s killing us…’ Professor Lustig Is Sugar Toxic?31:44Could sugar really be toxic? Isn’t it natural and part of the human diet since like forever? The Cause of Obesity15:58Here professor Lustig describes why we get fat and what to do about it. It’s not what most people think. The keto diet: “I feel great”

Is it possible to lose weight without starvation? FREE Download: Ketogenic Diet Book » KetoVIP.

Deborah After a visit to her doctor, Deborah found out that her cholesterol levels were not good. In addition, she was 30 lbs (14 kg) overweight and suffered from crippling knee pain. She was told to start taking a statin and to go on a low-fat diet. As she started researching her health issues, she ended up on Diet Doctor. She read up on the subject and was soon convinced that a keto diet was the way to go. She went back to her doctor and told her that if things hadn’t improved after six months, she’d follow her doctor’s recommendations. This is what happened: Thank you, Dr. Eenfeldt! Six months ago, I had my annual visit with my primary care provider of twenty years. My knees hurt, and I was 30 pounds (14 kg) overweight, confirmed by my BMI. My cholesterol was 282 mg/dl, my “bad” cholesterol was high, my “good” cholesterol and triglycerides could have been better, but my calculated VLDL was OK. For the knee pain, my PCP added “osteoarthritis” to my...

Last week, we covered the headlines. This week, we’ll take a look at emerging science and real food success stories.Emerging Science   A small clinical trial, ongoing in overweight men with recurrent prostate cancer, shows a keto diet leads to significant weight loss. At six months, patients averaged 28 lbs lost on keto versus 0 lbs in control group. BMI was reduced by an average of more than 4pts. Unclear if diet/weight loss deters cancer growth (trial ongoing). Similarly, a small prospective pilot study of patients placed on a 4 week ketogenic diet to prepare for bariatric surgery showed “highly significant decreases in body weight (− 10.3%, p < 0.001, in males; − 8.2%,p < 0.001, in females), left hepatic lobe volume (− 19.8%, p < 0.001)” and a resolution of micronutrient deficiencies. A clinical report, published in Cell Metabolism, finds that carbohydrate restriction delivers “rapid and dramatic reductions of liver fat and other cardiometabolic...

So, you want to know how to build muscle.

It’s an answer in two parts, really. Is your ultimate aim to get big or get strong?

How to lift weights to build muscle

To get really big, you might as well move into the gym, right? Well, not exactly. “In order to make decent size gains you will need to train a minimum of three times a week, however most programs will be designed for five days a week,” says Victor Adam, a San Diego-based personal trainer and owner of Axiom Health and Fitness. “But keep in mind that the less frequently you train (or the shorter your training sessions), the more intense they’ll need to be in order to make solid progress.”
