Even a not-so-strict low-carb diet beats calorie restriction when it comes to reversing diabetes type 2. That is what a new Japanese study finds: Our study demonstrated that a 6-month 130 g/day low-carbohydrate diet reduced HbA1c and BMI in poorly controlled Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
