In those days things were a bit different because 19/20-year olds didn’t get type 2 diabetes. Funnily enough though, the prescribed treatment was a low-carb diet and advice from a dietician. There was no home blood testing in those days; I was given a kit to test my urine which was a bit cumbersome and so I only used it for about a week.
